Sand Dollar Necklace

Finding a sand dollar often feels like discovering a small treasure. It invites curiosity, attention to intricate details, patterns, and the quiet geometry of nature.

It embodies tangible memories of the coastline — moments of stillness, holidays, childhood, and the beautifully idyllic time spent by the sea.

Although sand dollars are not found in North Devon, I discovered one in a jar of treasures at my favourite local antique shop. Its sun-like form felt delicate and enduring, familiar and otherworldly.

I was drawn to preserve this fragile structure, translating it into a wearable sculptural piece — a small fragment of the natural world to be held close.
