How to Choose the Perfect Engagement Ring for Your Loved One?
We would have to start with defining "perfection."
Perfection is about tiny details, knowing the person we love, noticing what they like, the colours they love, the things they cherish. Choosing a ring that reflects them, that takes all of it into account. Making sure that the promise of your life together is celebrated with a ring as unique as the two of you.
The perfect engagement ring is not defined by trends, but by the person it is made for. It begins with knowing the person who will wear it. It's not about the perfect stone, or the biggest diamond. Perfection is personal. Bespoke. Handmade. Unique.
For many people, this means choosing a ring created slowly and thoughtfully — a bespoke piece of jewellery designed around their story, their values, memories and the moments that are unique to their relationship.
The Meaning of Things
I have always been fascinated with the meaning of things, how objects become part of our story.
The essence of a perfect engagement ring lies in its ability to become a symbol of love, as well as a reminder of a particular moment in time.
A perfect engagement ring is:
A promise made tangible.
A shared moment.
An experience, and the desire to preserve it, to remember it, to celebrate it.
Expressed love. A vision for life together.
A ring is the beginning of a beautiful love story.
It is never simply a ring.
Why Choose a Bespoke Engagement Ring?
A bespoke engagement ring gives you the freedom to create something truly unique.
Together we choose the precious metal, the gemstone colours, the textures and the details that carry meaning.
Some couples choose traditional diamonds, others a wide range of coloured sapphires, beautiful imperfect salt-and-pepper diamonds, or the warm earthy tones of champagne diamonds. You get to decide on the elements of the design, to make sure we reflect your personality, values, or story.
The most meaningful engagement rings are rarely the most conventional. They are the ones that tell your story.
My Practice, Rooted in Devon and Cornwall
Since the beginning of my practice as an independent artisan jewellery maker, I have always wanted to create one-of-a-kind, bespoke, sculptural rings full of texture. I'm intrigued by the shapes, patterns, and layers created by the movement of the sea. I think in terms of meaning, story, emotion, connection, and the tangible objects we choose to surround ourselves with.
Working from my studio on the North Devon coast, I have a deep connection to the landscape, the earth and its elements. Those things naturally become part of my process.
I make rings with imprints of rocks from the beach, shells, and sand. Clients often send me a personal artefact to work into their piece, bark from a special tree, sand from a favourite beach, or a pebble collected on their travels along the Devon or Cornwall coastline.
I work with recycled precious metals and ethically sourced gemstones, helping each couple create a ring that reflects not only who they are, but also what they value.
I love creating truly meaningful, personal engagement rings.
Each time I'm approached for a bespoke commission, I feel privileged to become part of your story, and grateful for the trust I'm given in creating something with such precious meaning. It moves me every time.
Ready to Begin?
Every bespoke ring I make begins with someone's story. It might be shared over a cup of tea in my North Devon studio, during a video call, or in an email.
Whether you already know exactly what you're looking for, or simply have a feeling you want a ring to capture, we'll begin there.

I'd love to hear your story and create something that will become part of it.
